My name is Stephanie Mehle. I’m a lawyer here at the Gervelis Law Firm. I’ve always been interested in the law. I was that young person who would come home after school, turn on Court TV, and watch the latest trials. I would keep up with them, follow the news, and think, “Wow, I can really see myself doing this long-term.” I wanted to grow up to be an attorney and help people every single day. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to do that in my career here at Gervelis Law. I went to Kent State for my undergrad, where I studied political science and justice studies. I had the opportunity there to work for the prosecutor’s office, where I got to go from the Criminal Division to Municipal Court to the Civil Division. That’s where I really found that I liked civil work. I started working here at Gervelis Law in 2015 while studying for the bar exam, and I’ve been here ever since. As soon as I passed the bar, I was hired as an attorney, and I’ve been practicing personal injury law for about 10 years now. I had a case recently where I helped a family who was on their way to do holiday shopping. They were traveling on a back road in Columbiana County when they were hit head-on by a drunk driver. Unfortunately, the entire family was severely injured. It has been wonderful watching their recovery, staying in touch with them, visiting them at the hospital and later at a nursing home rehab facility. Seeing them recover has been absolutely amazing. It was a memorable case for me, especially being able to see them lean on each other and help each other through such a hard time.
